Introducing the first engineering example of 13th generation Raptor Lake processors at an event for investors, Intel shared new details about the chips to be produced with 7 nm process technology.
The number of cores is increasing
As it is known, the 12th generation Alder Lake architecture has a hybrid structure consisting of performance and efficiency cores. The Raptor Lake architecture, which will continue this structure, will increase the number of cores to 24 and the number of threads to 32. According to Intel’s statements, the new chips that will offer a double-digit performance increase will also be compatible with the LGA 1700 socket and will continue to support DDR4 memory.
Improved speed along with a big performance boost The first consumer CPUs of the new architecture, which will bring overclocking features, will come with 8 performance and 16 efficiency cores. However, it will have twice the ‘small’ core count than Alder Lake.
Although the release date of the new processors is unknown, we can say that they will be released in 2022 and at the same time as AMD’s Zen4 Ryzen 7000 series.
