It was discussed last week that there was a significant leak at two production facilities in Japan owned by Western Digital and Kioxia companies, which especially damaged the production of BiCs NAND plates. Unfortunately, prices may increase.
SSD prices are increasing
After the deterioration, the teams completed the necessary investigation. It has been reported that the 3D BiCs NAND plate with a capacity of exactly 6.5 Exabytes has failed. So, deterioration means an increase in prices.
Western Digital has started to inform its customers. He states that the prices of 3D BiCs NAND memory will increase, especially in a 2-3 month period. This will cause an increase in SSD prices.
Kioxia is worse off. There is about 7.5 Exbytes of damage. All tapes of the two companies, which were produced in 3 months with a total of 14 Exabytes, were damaged and became completely unusable. Considering the 35 percent share of the two companies in the general market, the magnitude of the loss is also understandable. The price increases were reflected immediately and it is noted that there will be 5-10 percent increases until the summer months.
