DBS Bank, Southeast Asia’s largest bank by assets under management, plans to offer Bitcoin and crypto services to its retail customers this year.
DBS Bank CEO Piyush Gupta did not elaborate, though he mentioned that the company had a roadmap during its fourth quarter earnings call.
According to Gupta, the company’s digital asset trading platform will be developed with the aim of making accessing digital assets much easier.
Competition has also increased among platforms that want to offer crypto services to institutional investors.
US Bank, the nation’s fifth largest retail bank, offered a crypto service mostly geared towards fund managers.
A bank of Standard Chartered has also previously expressed their desire to launch a crypto platform for corporate customers in the UK and Europe.
