Art auction house Sotheby’s announced on Tuesday that it will accept cryptocurrency payments for the first time through the Kobe Bryant NFT sale.
The NFT artifact in question is the shooting shirt of Los Angeles Lakers legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant, who scored 81 points in his 2006 game against the Toronto Raptors. The shirt was verified by The MeiGray Group, the official authenticator of the NBA, and matched to the photo. The auction began with an opening bid of $200,000 and bids will be available until February 22. So far, no item Bryant wore has ever been put on the market at auction.
