NASA: “The Starlink project will endanger the lives of astronauts.”
Elon Musk announced today that they have reached a total of 250,000 subscribers. The company, which added a new package for 500 Mbps internet earlier this year, will launch 30,000 satellites for its Gen2 plan.
NASA stated that adding more SpaceX satellites to orbit will create problems for space travel. Officials who made a statement on the subject underlined that more satellites pose a problem for the plans created by NASA and other space agencies.
SpaceX satellites are stated to have automatic maneuvering capability. But NASA said its alleged maneuverability lacks statistical validation. NASA also announced that SpaceX could not provide 100 percent reliability.
SpaceX, which had been warned of another collision in the past, refused to move its satellites. Stating that the company has problems in this regard, NASA said that if similar problems occur in the future, the lives of astronauts will be endangered.
A possible collision scenario between the ISS and a Starlink satellite could cost the lives of the crew on the spacecraft. It is not yet known whether the company will change its Gen2 plan.
