If you’re expecting Intel to release its ARC Alchemist graphics cards in early 2022, this news will make you a little sad. There are new rumors that the expected products may not appear before the second quarter of 2022.
This rumor comes from famous Youtube leaker Moore’s Law is Dead, who says he’s been using reliable Intel sources that have given him accurate leaks in the past. In a nutshell, these leaks point to a wide timeframe in which Intel’s Alchemist release could happen, but all seem to agree that the company won’t be ready for Q1 release.
A theory from an anonymous source suggests that all Alchemist cards with both laptop and desktop GPUs will be pushed into Q2, so we won’t see any actual products released until April at the earliest. But there may be a launch in March and we may see laptop cards first offered in April. But these mobile GPUs will be inferior models.
The bad news for PC enthusiasts and developers is that high-end desktop graphics cards, aka higher-end GPUs, aren’t expected until June, according to this first source. But this is presented as a worst-case scenario, so it may be presented sooner. Still, the end of Q2 seems to be the most likely for the most powerful Alchemist GPU.
A second source speculates about the top-of-the-line Alchemist graphics card, stating that it was originally supposed to launch in February, but now looks to be targeted for April. This forecast is more optimistic as it marks the start of Q2, but still the source is unsure and says April looks “doubtful” at the moment, so a shift to May can be expected.
Of course, all these are just rumors for now. However, the hope of seeing the release of Alchemist graphics cards in the first quarter is almost nil…
