Unfortunately, the poor working conditions and violence suffered by healthcare professionals are often on the agenda lately. This issue, which started a great ‘doctor migration’, has also become the focus of criticism on social media. In fact, this migration found its place even in the world press. In addition, due to all this bad situation, doctors have held strikes and strikes in recent months.
The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice announced that they will come together and start new studies against the violence agenda. Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca and Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ evaluated what can be done about this situation and suggested solutions during their meeting. The evaluations are planned to be put into action next week. These actions include providing assurances to doctors in a similar way to judges and prosecutors. Violence against doctors can no longer be converted into money
As a result of the evaluations, it is aimed that the punishment for violence against doctors will be deterrent. According to the previous penal system, a penalty of up to 3 years could be imposed for the crime of intentional injury, but according to certain criteria, this penalty could be reduced to 6 months and converted into a fine.
According to the sentence now planned, the duration of the sentences will be longer than 3 years and cannot be converted into fines. In other words, those who attack the doctor will definitely go to prison and be punished. A study will also be carried out in order not to delay the adjudication in cases of violence against doctors. As you know, judgment can be postponed in cases, but this element can be ignored for cases of violence to doctors.
Finally, a model similar to the assurances given to judges and prosecutors will be brought to doctors. This part is not about violence, but it is an event that will make the doctor’s life easier. Compensation lawsuits filed against doctors against the treatments they receive within the scope of the guarantee will now be filed with the state and the doctor will not have to pay compensation.
