AMD, almost reborn under the leadership of Lisa Su, continues to grow. It started to break historical records in the processor market, especially with its success on the server side.

Great success from AMD

According to the fourth quarter researches of last year, AMD’s share in the x86 processor market broke a record with 25.6 percent. An increase of 4 points was achieved on a yearly basis. Intel, on the other hand, dropped 1 point, with 74.4 percent.

According to the research conducted by excluding the Internet of Things and consoles, AMD had a share of 24 percent, Intel 70 percent, and ARM around 6-7 percent. Especially the increase in Apple M1 processors, ARM-based laptops and Chromebook models seems to change the balance.

When we look at the desktop segment, we see that AMD has regressed to 16.2 percent market share. Here, it is stated that the chip crisis is effective. While it regressed to 21.6 percent in the portable systems segment, it has a 10.7 percent share in the server segment. Some sources think that this share is around 18 percent.

While Intel and AMD sold 471 million in total throughout the year, ARM made 29 million sales. Again, throughout the year, Intel and AMD reached a total of 74 billion dollars in x86 revenue.

Advantages such as Zen 4 architecture and 3D V-Cache will strengthen AMD’s hand in the new period. Considering the possibility that the global chip crisis will ease, 2022 will be brighter for AMD.
