Engineering samples of the 3D V-Cache memory-integrated EPYC Milan-X processors, which AMD has yet to supply to certain customers, are starting to hit the internet. Among them are overclocking tests.
EPYC Milan-X benchmark tests
A Chinese user had the opportunity to test the AMD EPYC 7773X processor. This 64-core processor can go up to 3.4GHz. With the addition of 512MB of 3D V-Cache cache, a total of 804MB of cache is obtained.
The user put a dual-processor system in overclocking tests and pushed it to the 4.8GHz limit. In tests carried out on a special motherboard, 1.55V was used while the power limit was increased to 1500W. The air cooling system worked at the highest speeds and making a loud noise.
EPYC Milan-X processors do not stand out much in tests like Geekbench, as they cater to slightly more memory-oriented applications. In addition, it is stated that the real performance cannot be seen because there are some limitations in engineering examples. On the other hand, it is a question of whether AMD will use this significant overclocking potential.
