First of all, let us state that the brand, like many other automakers, has a plan to sell only electric vehicles in the European continent from 2028. The new news has also revealed that Opel will accelerate its electric vehicle steps and will take a big step in this regard in the coming years.

Stating that 11 models will be electric by the middle of 2022, the Germany-based manufacturer expects the Astra model, which will be launched in the coming months, to be a fundamental step in line with its targets. It was also among the news that Astra will meet with customers in the spring and that the model will be sold with a rechargeable hybrid version.

Stating that the models called Combo Life, Vivaro Combi and Zafira Life will be offered only as electric this year, the giant company added that every model will be electric in 2024. Company CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz also stated that the electric versions of the Crossland and Insignia models may come soon and the brand will attract attention with environmentally friendly moves.

Let’s also mention that the brand has taken different steps to reset its carbon footprint. According to reports, Opel and its umbrella company Stellantis are planning to build not only electric vehicles but also environmentally friendly facilities to move towards a carbon-zero future. According to the statements, Opel and Stellantis will establish a factory for battery production in Kaiserslautern, Germany, for this purpose. It is also among the news that Opel’s headquarters in Rüsselsheim will be used as a ‘green campus’ for Stellantis in the future.
