NFTs are increasing in popularity day by day despite the ongoing discussions around the world. Many people describe these digital assets, which are paid millions of dollars, as ‘nonsense’, and some as a way of money laundering. Even so, astronomical fees continue to be paid to many NFT collections. Perhaps the most famous of these collections is the ‘Bored Ape Yacht Club’ collection. These NFTs, which consist of 10,000 images of monkeys, each different from each other, can be bought for hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars, depending on their rarity.

Many famous names from different sectors have also bought works from this collection. Last week, we shared with you that the famous singer Justin Bieber paid 1.3 million for a single Bored Ape image. In addition to this, many successful names such as Eminem, Post Malone, Stephen Curry, Paris Hilton, Logan Paul, Mark Cuban, Gwyneth Paltrow had bought works from the collection. In addition, giant companies such as Adidas announced their partnership with the collection.

Two men from Florida are co-founders of the collection.

Despite such great popularity, it was unknown who was behind the collection. However, new news shows that this situation, at least in part, is no longer a secret. The report, published by BuzzFeed News, stated that behind this collection, which was paid millions of dollars, there were two men living in Florida, USA. According to the statements, one of these names is writer and editor Greg Solano, known as ‘Gargamel’ on Twitter. The other is Wylie Aronow, known on Twitter as ‘Gordon Goner’.

After the article published by BuzzFeed, the duo confirmed the news on their Twitter accounts, where they kept their identities secret and shared NFT posts, and shared their photos and a Bored Ape piece side by side, using the phrases “Me in Web 2, Web 3”. BuzzFeed also stated in its article that it has contacted the company called Yuga Labs, which launched the collection, and that CEO Nicole Muniz confirmed that Solano and Aoronow are co-founders.

Finally, it should be noted that these two are not the ones who drew monkeys. According to sources, the lead artist of this popular collection is a 27-year-old woman named Seneca. It is also stated that there are two more co-founders besides Solano and Aronow. According to The Verge, two more unidentified individuals using the pseudonyms No Sass and Emperor Tomato Ketchup are behind the multimillion-dollar collection.
