It is a known fact that cryptocurrencies are getting more and more widespread day by day. However, the increase in popularity creates some negative situations and causes many fraud cases. Cryptocurrency exchanges are also among those affected by this situation, as can be expected.

Binance, the largest exchange in terms of trading volume, is at the forefront of the channels that are at risk of being affected by this situation. Binance, which we shared with you that it has taken billion-dollar measures against cyber attacks in the past days, has now made a statement about fraudsters. Company CEO Changpeng Zhao warned users of a scam.

SMS scam

Making statements on Twitter today, Zhao, nicknamed ‘CZ’, warned the crypto money community about SMS fraud. In his statements, CZ stated that these SMSs targeting Binance customers should be paid attention to, and the links sent should never be clicked.

An SMS stands out in the shared screenshot. The message stating that money was withdrawn from an unknown IP address says that the buyer must click on the shared link to cancel this transaction. Zhao also emphasizes that customers should not believe in such ‘phishing’, that is, fraud cases that try to deceive people with false promises, that the links should not be clicked, and that the URL of the exchange should always be written by hand in the browsers.

Although exchanges continue to increase their security investments, cybercrime against cryptocurrencies continues rapidly and creates question marks in people’s minds. In a news we made yesterday, we told you that hackers infiltrated the Wormhole network and stole 320 million dollars of Ethereum (ETH), and in the past weeks, 34 million dollars of crypto money was stolen from the popular crypto money exchange Crypto.com.
