Leading AMD’s development in the processor and display industry, Dr.Lisa SU shared new information about the RDNA 3 and Zen 4 architectures in the company’s earnings announcements.
May come earlier than expected
Having satisfied the users by supporting the AM4 socket for many years, AMD will soon switch to the new AM5 standard that supports DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen5. Pointing to the year 2022 about the new processors and graphics cards that are eagerly awaited by many users, Lisa SU said, “We have made significant investments to support our growth in 2022 and beyond, and to secure the required capacity.”
The RDNA3 architecture, which is expected to offer a big performance increase compared to RDNA2, will allegedly also combine chipsets in a single die and use TSMC N5 and N6 processing technology. However, the Radeon RX 7000 series is expected to be the first MCM (Multichip Modules / Multi-Chip Module) based GPU architecture.
Considering both cases, we can say that there is a lot of work to be done on AMD’s roadmap. It is not yet known whether the company, which does not share a specific date about the chipsets with the new architecture, but targets the year 2022, is referring to the product introductions or the release date.
