Germany-based IT Security research institute AV-TEST has released its December 2021 evaluation report of the best antivirus programs for Windows 10 home users. The organization reviewed 20 different anti-malware programs from various companies and published them in this report, including Microsoft’s Windows Defender.
As with the October 2021 report, Windows Defender scored very high in this assessment. In fact, it was one of the best to score all 18 points available. For this reason, it was awarded the “AV-TEST TOP PRODUCT” certificate for scoring above the 17.5 point threshold. Alongside Defender, ESET, Kaspersky, Avira and Norton also got full marks.
Microsoft Defender seems to be even more successful this time around, relatively speaking, as some of its strong rivals such as Avast, AVG and Malwarebytes scored lower in one of the three categories. These categories were determined as Protection, Efficiency, Usability.
However, they are still rated AV-TEST BEST as each of these programs managed to score 17.5 points.
