Tesla recalled vehicles with Full Self-Driving software, which allows vehicles to move slowly at intersections under certain conditions. In this context, 54,000 vehicles were recalled. This situation came as a result of a criticism.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explained the severity of the situation in a letter to Tesla confirming the recall, which was made public on Tuesday. In this context, “Failure to stop at the stop sign may increase the risk of an accident.” said.

Complaints about Full Self-Driving

The removal of the Full Self-Driving feature covers Tesla model vehicles produced between 2016 and 2022. At this point, the S, X, 3 and Y models were affected. Full Self-Driving is a more advanced version of the Autopilot driver assistance system, which Tesla uses more widely. Despite their name, no system can start a car without human touch.

Tesla allows customers to purchase Full Self-Driving software, but the software is still in testing phase. In addition, the cost is known as 12,000 dollars. The company currently only allows a certain group of customers to activate it.

In November, Tesla changed the software on about 12,000 cars to fix a brake issue. It has also filed for an official recall to document the move. The automaker also recalled 458,000 vehicles in December due to two separate mechanical failures that could affect safety.

In December, the safety agency launched an investigation into a feature that allows front passengers or drivers to play video games on the dashboard display while Tesla vehicles are in motion. A day later, the company agreed to disable the feature.

According to the documents, Tesla told the safety agency that it was not aware of any accidents caused by the rolls of vehicles equipped with Full Self-Driving software.
