Launched as one of the pioneers of change in the automotive industry, Tesla sued the social media phenomenon with 14 million followers, alleging that it gave false and unfounded information about its cars. The company claims that in some videos published by the phenomenon, it slanders themselves by showing it as having malfunctions and problems that do not exist in Model 3.

The ‘slander’ case from Tesla to the phenomenon

Tesla China announced that it has sued the social media phenomenon on the grounds that it scares users and potential buyers by giving false information in the videos it shared in a statement a while ago. The reason for the lawsuit is a comparison video published in April 2021.

Xiaogang Xuezhang, who became a phenomenon with his review videos about cars, has more than 14 million followers on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. The reason why the phenomenon is sued is a video that compares the automatic emergency braking systems of Tesla Model 3 and XPeng P7 models, published in April 2021.

The video of the phenomenon, which claimed that the Model 3’s emergency braking system failed twice and did not activate, but that the XPeng P7 model did a successful job, caught Tesla’s attention in a short time.

Apart from this, some Tesla users claimed that the claim was unfounded and that the phenomenon deliberately prevented the automatic braking system from activating by pressing the gas, while others stated that this was a smear campaign on the company.

Tesla also announced that it has decided to take a stricter stance against people who make false claims about their vehicles by filing a lawsuit against Xiaogang Xuezhang. The case is expected to conclude in the coming months.

So what do you think about this subject? Do you think Tesla Model 3’s automatic braking system is problematic? Or are the allegations unfounded? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section.
