Emphasizing that Microsoft is not clear enough about the automatic renewal of user services and that it is not easy to turn off this feature, CMA stated that users may not even realize that they are paying for services they do not use. Deciding to take a consumer-friendly approach with the warnings, Microsoft is making changes in its services.
With the new changes to be made, the company will reach users with a 12-month subscription and will offer the opportunity to cancel their contracts if they wish and a proportional refund. In addition, Microsoft, who has paid for the system for at least 12 months and plans to contact inactive accounts, will cancel the automatic payment when no response is received.
