Finally, the 11th game of the series, which was released in 2019, was added to Microsoft’s Game Pass system in the past months. The new game was eagerly awaited as the DLC planning of the game ended and no new content would be added from now on. A NetherRealm Studios employee has, quite carelessly, confirmed that Mortal Kombat 12 is in development.

It can be said that Mortal Kombat 11, which was released in 2019, is slowly coming to the end of its ecological life. The game, which is about to complete its third year, has confirmed that it will no longer receive more content with the last expansion pack released in the past months. Although there have been rumors in recent months that NetherRealm Studios will make a fighting game about Marvel characters, these whispers were not confirmed. It seems that the Mortal Kombat series is entering a path where it will host DC characters once again with its new game.
NetherRealms Studios manager Jonathan Andersen, who shared an image via his official Instagram account last week (image above), showed his desk filled with several posters reminiscent of the Mortal Kombat and Injustice series. However, curious fans zoomed in on the monitors, which appeared in a small part of the image, and the ‘MK 12 Mast… ‘ they found the text.
Of course, there is no doubt that MK 12 is short for Mortal Kombat 12. However, it is not known what the remaining part tells. In addition, the name of Reptile, one of the popular characters of the series, is also mentioned on the monitors. The fact that this character does not appear in MK11 at all may indicate that he will return to the series and become one of the playable fighters of Mortal Kombat 12.
