The gaming industry, which has become one of today’s most valuable industries over the years, has once again proven how much it will grow in the future. Microsoft has announced that it will buy Activision, one of the most established distribution companies in the gaming world, which was founded in 1979. The cost of this purchase was announced as 68.7 billion dollars.

With this news of Microsoft, of course, the shares of Sony, its biggest rival in the gaming world, almost crashed. So much so that Sony’s shares lost more than 14% in just a few hours after the news. Well, while Microsoft has managed to harm its rival by giving news that will increase competition in the gaming world, can rival company Sony soon make a similar move?

According to analysts, Sony may consider buying EA:

According to some analysts who have commented on this, the answer is yes. Analysts even shared who Sony might buy. According to analysts, Sony can think of three names in this regard: Electronic Arts, Ubisoft and Take-Two. According to the analysis shared by Enders Analysis, the company will want to buy Electronic Arts the most among these three companies.

Sony’s acquisition of Electronic Arts, another giant name in the game world, will cost more than the other two companies. Because Electronic Arts has a market value of approximately 37 billion dollars today. But if we consider that Electronic Arts’ dominance in the game world is higher than its two rivals, and even if we consider that there is an agreement between Electronic Arts and Microsoft (EA Play) at the moment, Sony will probably consider buying this company first.

So, how much will Sony pay if it tries to make such a move?

Of course, it is difficult to guess the answer to this question. But it might make sense to go through Activision, which is the closest example for Sony’s acquisition. When Microsoft announced that it would buy Activision, it announced that the acquisition would be for $68.7 billion, at $95 per share. Prior to the day of this announcement, Activision had a per share value of $63 and a market capitalization of $50.93 billion.

The market value of Electronic Arts today, that is, on January 27, 2022, is $ 36.76 billion. Although it is not yet known how much Electronic Arts will be worth in the future, Microsoft’s acquisition made an upward movement in the shares of all game companies, including EA, for a short time. But if we were to say that Sony is buying EA today, the price of this deal would probably be close to Activision. On the other hand, considering that Electronic Arts’ product range is wider than Activision’s, we cannot close the door to Sony paying a higher price.
