Intel processors, which were released under the code name Alder Lake, began to be used in laptop computers. The laptop model with the Core i9-12900HK processor managed to outperform the M1 Max MacBook in the Geekbench test.
Apple, which started a new era in the portable computer market with the M1 processor family, won the admiration of users with its new models. It is claimed that Intel will enter the ARM-based processor market to compete with Apple. Intel, which sacrificed $ 20 billion for the new chip factory, announced that it will start construction in 2022.
Intel i9-12900HK outperforms M1 Max in performance test
Tests with Intel i9 12900HK, Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max processors revealed Intel’s development in the processor market. Intel, which was left behind in the processor competition, returned to its old days with its 12th generation processors.
3 models were tested with Geekbench and Cinebench software. According to Geekbench scores, the multi-core score of the Intel Alder Lake processor is about 5 percent higher than the M1 Max. Intel, which is ahead with a 3.5 percent difference in single-core, managed to surpass the M1 Max processor on paper.
In Geekbench 5 OpenCL test with integrated graphics interface, devices with M1 Max and M1 Pro processors managed to leave Intel behind. With 59,774 points, the M1 Max outperformed Intel, which has Iris Xe integrated graphics interface. In the tests with the RTX 3080 Ti, Intel scored 143.594 points, almost 3 times the score of the M1 Max.
Intel outperformed the M1 Max in tests with Cinebench R23, one of the popular benchmark software. With a 23 percent performance difference to the MacBook Pro with the M1 Max processor, the i9-12900HK scored 15,891 in multi-core tests.
