As it is known, Microsoft made the biggest purchase in the gaming world in the past weeks, acquiring Activision Blizzard for exactly 68 billion dollars. After this purchase, the fate of one of Activision’s heavyweights such as Call of Duty is also eagerly awaited. While discussing whether new productions of the CoD series will be released on Sony consoles, unexpected news came for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will bypass the old generation
Call of Duty: Warzone stands out as one of the most played and most popular games in the world as of now. Launched in March 2020 and the Battle Royale type of production, it managed to exceed a total of 100 million players in less than a year. After Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it was also a matter of curiosity on which consoles the free-to-play CoD: Warzone 2 would be released.
A new report published this week showed that Microsoft’s three new Call of Duty games, which will be released in the coming period, will also come to the PlayStation platform. However, today, Tom Henderson, one of the industry’s famous hearers, shared a news that will upset PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners. Henderson announced that Warzone 2 will be released only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, except for the PC platform.
Henderson announced in a separate Tweet that Warzone 2 will launch in 2023. However, he stated that the game was completely designed with the new generation consoles in mind and the old generation consoles were not taken into account in the production phase of the game. We can also say that this decision has nothing to do with Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard move.
So what do you think about this development? Do you think it is the right decision that Warzone 2 will not be released for PS4 and Xbox One? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section.
