As you know, almost the whole world has not been able to overcome the chip production problems experienced after the coronavirus pandemic. Many giant companies are still struggling to meet the incoming demand, and Sony is one of these companies.
Announced in 2019 and offered for sale all over the world in the last months of 2020, PlayStation 5 is still struggling with stock problems after more than a year. Just like in our country, a new statement came from the Sony front regarding the production problems of the PS5, which almost fell into the black market all over the world.
Sony talked about stock problems
Publishing an official statement at the end of last year, Microsoft announced that it has ended the production of Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles and that they will only produce Xbox Series X|S from 2022. A similar move was expected from Sony after this statement, which was described as a solution to the company’s chip problem. However, the company has officially stated that it will not terminate PS4 production on these rumors.
Sony, which recently denied that it will not produce PS4 in 2022 through Bloomberg, has now spoken about a claim made by Bloomberg. Accordingly, the Japanese company, which continues to have problems with PS5 production at full speed, would accelerate PS4 production to fill this gap in the market and distribute more PS4 to much more regions in 2022.
However, Sony once again denied the allegations and announced that there was no deviation from their plans for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 production, and that they would continue to produce both consoles as they had previously planned. In this sense, we can say that Sony is building its plans on the thoughts of analysts that the chip shortage will be resolved in the third quarter of 2022.
Sony’s neither ending nor accelerating PS4 production may indicate that PS5 stock problems will continue in the first half of 2022. If there is no change in the plans of the famous Japanese company, it seems that the PS5 will be easily available on the market, and it will end by 2022. So what are your views on this?
