The fact that Microsoft did not announce anything after the announcement that it would buy Activision Blizzard and transfer it to its own structure caused big question marks in people’s minds. Still, some small (!) details started to come to light. One of the things that is starting to come to light is the excitement of Xbox CEO Phil Spencer.
Excitement for what? The excitement for the games that Activision Blizzard left for dead. Are you excited as we are? Because we all know very well which game comes to mind first when it comes to games that Activision has left to die: Guitar Hero. As the generation that grew up in Guitar Hero cafes, it is natural to want this series to receive the respect it deserves.
Once the deal is complete, the Xbox team will talk to the developers about legacy games on Activision.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Phil Spencer avoided talking about Activision’s biggest brands World of Warcraft and Call of Duty, but Spencer stated that they wanted to take a look at Activision’s older games: “I was looking at the IP list and I was so excited! There are games like King’s Quest, Guitar Hero. I should probably know this already but I guess there is HeXen too. ”
According to Spencer, when the deal is completed by the summer of 2023, the Xbox team will discuss with their developers on which legacy games from Activision can be brought to life. We hope that we, as the Guitar Hero generation, will see another Guitar Hero game.
