Netflix, the world’s most popular video streaming system, added a game tab to the series and movies on the platform with a surprise decision it made last year. For these games, which are only available on mobile platforms for now, a new statement has come for Netflix Gaming, which received praise even from Phil Spencer, the boss of the Microsoft Xbox department.

Company CEO Reed Hasting, who took the floor at a special meeting Netflix held with investors, announced that they did not take a step just to exist in this sector and that they set out with the goal of being the best in the gaming industry.

Netflix CEO spoke assertively

As you know, Netflix launched its new service with a small game scale of 5 productions in November last year. Thanks to this service, which is available to active subscribers, users can access a group of mobile games at no extra cost. The list, which includes Stranger Things: The Game, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Card Blast, Teeter and Shooting Hoops, is currently playable in 190 countries on both Android and Apple devices.

The Netflix administration, which has promised in the past months that the service will be available to existing subscribers of Netflix without paying any extra subscription fees and that no ads will be shown in any game, seems to have serious plans for the platform.

Finally, speaking at a meeting event held with shareholders and investors, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that when they established the platform, they started with only 5 games and increased this number to 10 in a short time like a month.

Indicating that they are planning to increase this game scale in 2022, Hastings announced that they will try to create an eco-system that appeals to both amateur and ‘hardcore’ players and that they will not stop until Netflix Gaming has a place in the sector. When asked how serious they are about advancing in the gaming industry, Hastings added that when they enter an industry, they have to be good enough to make a difference and that they aim to be the best in this field.
