Samsung has finally officially unveiled the Exynos 2200, just one week after canceling the launch event. The Exynos 2200 has an octa-core design that includes one Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores; It is based on 4nm architecture. This is LPDDR5 RAM and UFS v3. It combines with its support with 1 storage.
The Exynos 2200 will have both sub-6GHz and mmWave modems, providing a maximum download speed of up to 10 Gbps when in EN-DC mode using both 4G and 5G connectivity. In a first, the Exynos 2200 will also support 3GPP Rel. 16 means better coverage and lower latency. Samsung is also adding an upgraded NPU (Neural Processing Unit) to the Exynos 2200 that should enhance its Machine Learning capabilities.
For multimedia, the Exynos 2200 supports up to 200 MP camera and MFC (Multi Format Codec), allowing the phone to record 4K at 30fps. In addition, the Exynos 2200 can decode 4K videos up to 240fps and 8K videos up to 60fps. It also supports displays with HDR10+ and high refresh rates up to 144Hz.
The highlight of the Exynos 2200 is undoubtedly Samsung’s new Xclipse 920 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 2 technology. Samsung claims that the “Xclipse GPU is a one-of-a-kind hybrid graphics processor sandwiched between the console and mobile GPU.” The GPU features hardware accelerated ray tracing (RT) and variable rate shading (VRS).
Samsung did not provide any information on whether we will see the Exynos 2200 in the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. This reminds us of the previously mentioned claim that all Galaxy S22s will be offered with a Snapdragon processor. However, it is noted that the Korean giant has already started mass production for the new Exynos.
