Walmart, one of the companies with the largest retail chain in the USA, continues its preparations for the Metaverse frenzy at full speed. Cryptocurrency has gained a lot of attention in recent years. NFTs have received the same attention in a short time since the Metaverse started to come to the fore.

Walmart, on the other hand, does not leave these jobs empty-handed and makes preparations for the new meta world. The company, which has made moves for Bitcoin before, has rolled up its sleeves for even bigger things. Here are the details…

Walmart has filed trademarks

According to reports from CNBC, Walmart’s recent trademark filings indicate it wants to set up its own NFTs and cryptocurrency. The retail giant filed for various trademarks on Dec. The company plans to start selling virtual goods, including electronics, toys, appliances, sports equipment, clothing, home decor and more.

Walmart is said to be offering a digital currency to its customers. It is also among the possibilities that it will provide the opportunity to buy and sell NFTs. In addition, an application about physical fitness training and classes on health and nutrition for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) environments was detailed.

Bloomberg cited Walmart’s registered trademarks as “Verse to Home,” “Verse to Curb,” and “Verse to Store.” This step, too, indicates that the company is preparing a virtual shopping experience. Applications are publicly available on the US Patent and Trademark Office’s site, listed under the name “Walmart Connect.” If you enter the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) and search for “Walmart” or “Walmart Connect”, you will find the applications.

Walmart spokesperson Carrie McKnight said in an interview with The Verge that the company is exploring how emerging technologies could impact future shopping experiences. He stated that although he has no data to share yet, they have filed trademark applications as part of the innovation process.
