The new Scream movie (Scream 5), produced by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass, got off to a smashing start in the US last Friday, grossing $13.35 million in its opening Friday in Spider-Man: No Way Home He succeeded in dethroning him.
Despite being released during the pandemic, Spider-Man: No Way Home was the highest-grossing Marvel movie after the last two Avengers movies. The movie, which broke records one after the other, was also the most watched movie for weeks. Scream 5 became the first movie to be watched more than Spider-Man: No Way Home in a single day since its release, dethroning Spider-Man, who was still number one until last Friday.
Scream 5 goes 25 years after the first murders
Scream 5 was Paramount Pictures’ biggest opening since A Quiet Place 2, which grossed $19 million on its opening day. Paramount Pictures raised awareness this time around, releasing a movie trailer with few spoilers and television and online trailers with no spoilers for the audience.
