Sony began revealing some details about its next-gen virtual reality headset at CES 2022 by confirming the device’s name: PlayStation VR2 is now an official name. The new title will be compatible with PS5 and the new VR2 Sense controllers. It also has a screen resolution of 2,000 x 2,040 pixels per eye, a 110-degree field of view, frame rates of 90 to 120Hz, and supports 4K HDR.

PS VR2 has inside-out tracking, meaning it works with multiple built-in cameras to monitor the movements of your head and controllers. Also, Sony has introduced a new sensory feature on the device called “title feedback” that can make games and experiences even more immersive. Header feedback uses an onboard vibrating engine to simulate in-game events – for example, it can mimic a character’s sense of increased heart rate while hiding from a threat, or the sensation of objects passing near a character’s head.

3D audio and eye tracking are among the other features that create immersion. The headset detects the movement of your eyes, allowing you to interact with the game environment as if you were interacting with the real world.

As for PS VR2 Sense control levers, we can say that it will have the basic features of DualSense control levers, especially haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

Although Sony has not yet announced which countries the title will be offered to first, the company has announced one of the first games to come to the platform. Horizon Call of the Mountain, a VR experience in the Horizon universe, is apparently being developed for PS VR2 and will be an exclusive game for the platform.
