Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Renault Group today announced their intention to expand their collaboration to digitally transform companies’ automotive experiences. At this point, Renault Group will work with Qualcomm to leverage the Snapdragon Digital Chassis to create a next-generation architecture focused on flexible vehicle architectures.

The automotive environment continues to evolve rapidly. At this point, automakers are developing new automobile architectures that require a cohesive approach between high-performance system-on-chip processors, software-defined platforms, smart and satellite sensors, combined through a common service platform application.

Cammal, vice president of Renault Group, made a statement

The Snapdragon Digital Chassis consists of these open and scalable cloud-connected platforms designed for automotive telematics and connectivity, digital cockpit and driver assistance. It uses a unified architecture to deliver enhanced security and immersive digital experiences that can be updated throughout the lifecycle.

Thierry Cammal, vice president of global software factory, Renault Group, alliance, said: “Working closely with industry-leading technology companies like Qualcomm Technologies allows us to accelerate the pace of innovation to keep pace with rapidly evolving trends and needs for advanced features. We look to vision and innovation while maintaining our position as a leading automaker. ”

Joint efforts to leverage the Snapdragon Digital Chassis build on an announcement made last September when the companies highlighted technology collaborations with 3rd Gen Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms to improve in-car experiences for the new Megane E-Tech Electric vehicle. A key component of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms provide automakers the ability to use advanced displays, audio, computing and connectivity to redefine infotainment.

Volvo Car Group announces plans to develop Cockpit Platforms

Qualcomm Technologies Inc. and Volvo Car Group today announced their plans to develop the 3rd Generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms related infotainment systems in all-electric cars that will launch under the Volvo and Polestar brands.

Using Qualcomm Technologies’ innovations in automotive technologies, Qualcomm Technologies, Volvo Car Group and Google have developed a long-term roadmap to deliver added value to Volvo customers while providing a fast, high-level and engaging user experience. Thanks to work with Google, the Polestar 3 SUV is powered by next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms to support systems like infotainment in Volvo Cars’ upcoming all-electric SUV.

Volvo Car Group plans to launch cars with next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms later this year.

Honda announces it will use Snapdragon Cockpit Platform

Honda announced at CES 2022 that it will use Qualcomm’s third-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform to run the Android-based infotainment system in cars arriving in the US in the second half of 2022 and early 2023. The new deals join existing deals Qualcomm has with other major automakers, including BMW, GM, Hyundai, and more.
