Pluto was a planet in our Solar System a few years ago. But why did the International Astronomical Union come together and define Pluto as a “dwarf planet” and exclude it from among the planets we know.

Smaller than Russia, Pluto is equal to 18 percent of Earth’s equatorial circumference. Pluto, which we have known as the 9th planet for many years, lost its planet status in 2006. The reason for this is that Pluto is very small and it is known that it has not even made one full orbit around the Sun yet.

However, in an article published in the journal Icarus as a result of the research of some scientists, it is written that the definition of planet has changed over the centuries, and as a result, Pluto may be raised to the status of a planet again, and this issue seems to cause controversy again. “There are probably more than 150 planets in our Solar System,” said lead study author Philip Metzger, a planetary physicist, while they are said to be close to Pluto in size.

So, should Pluto become a planet again, or should it remain a “dwarf planet”?
