Samsung is at the top of the foldable screen phone market with Huawei. The South Korean company has achieved significant success, especially with the Galaxy Flip Z series. A new Samsung patent has emerged for the three-fold screen design, which many brands have been chasing for a long time. According to estimates, there is a possibility that the patent contains important clues for the new Galaxy Fold 4 design.

Samsung has filed an interesting patent application for the Galaxy Fold 4 design

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has published a new patent for Samsung. Judging by the patent, Samsung received a new patent for the tri-fold display, which TLC previously showed as a prototype. We say new because Samsung has patented a triple-fold display before. But what is the difference between this patent? Samsung is here with a more modular folding phone patent this time.

Samsung maybe use this patent for Galaxy Fold 4 design

It is not known if it will be the inspiration for the Galaxy Fold 4 design, but since the phone is tripled, it will have a huge screen when opened. When it is closed, the protruding screen draws attention. Judging by the patent, this protrusion is the rear camera module. Thus, the rear camera of the triple-folding screen phone remains under protection. As far as we understand, this camera module also has the feature of sliding up or down.

In fact, this tri-fold phone patent is very similar to the 12.4-inch OLED Flex In and Out prototype that Samsung Display showed.

The folding phone market and Samsung’s problems

However, folding phone models are already extremely sensitive. It is a matter of debate how durable such volatile parts will be. As you know, Samsung is at the top of sales of foldable screen phones. On the other hand, both the Galaxy Fold series and the Flip Z series fall short of screen wrinkles.

Finding a solution to this problem with the Oppo Find N model has made it essential for Samsung to reduce wrinkles in new folding phones. Motorola’s signal to return to the foldable market with the Razr after a long time will also cause Samsung to try harder to stay on top. Because the first Motorola Razr achieved a significant success in the folding screen phone market, despite its expensive price.

The biggest advantage of Samsung is that most of the other competitors in the market are still weak in terms of user experience. Huawei, the big rival with the same experience in this regard, has relied on the Chinese market due to embargoes. However, the recently introduced Huawei P50 Pocket prevents the Galaxy Flip Z from being the only alternative on the market.
