The Pro version of the Xiaomi 12 series, which was introduced with ambitious features a few days ago and attracts all attention, is on the agenda with a big problem. With three rear cameras at 50 Megapixel resolutions, a Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a battery with 120W fast charging support and of course the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, it was showing its strength to its competitors. However, the phone took the biggest blow from the place where it was most trusted.

In the MediaTek-Snapdragon rivalry that has been going on for years, many people found Snapdragon successful. MediaTek processors were frequently criticized for their heating problems and parallel performance losses. However, this trend seems to be starting to change.

Xiaomi 12 Pro turns into a stove due to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

One of the first series powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor was the Xiaomi 12 series, which was announced days ago. This processor, which is the most powerful processor on the Android front and is expected to be used by many manufacturers from Samsung to OPPO, brought great problems in Xiaomi 12 models. The phone is experiencing performance loss due to the overheating of the chipset.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which powers the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, seems to have not found a solution to an issue that MediaTek drew a lot at the time. Announcing that it increases efficiency and performance every year, Qualcomm puts warming problems on the shoulders of manufacturers. Saying that it is successful in cooling, Xiaomi 12 Pro sees temperatures exceeding 43 degrees.

Moreover, tests with the Motorola Moto Edge X30 show that the problem is not caused by the phone. Both phones are powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Motorola sees temperatures of 48 degrees during the winter months.

In the tests, it is seen that Xiaomi 12 Pro gives 60 FPS in the first place in games that require high hardware, but this number of frames decreases with the rising heat in the following minutes. In about 30 minutes, the temperature reaches 44.4 degrees, while FPS occasionally sees 51s.

Let’s see how manufacturers and processor manufacturer Qualcomm will make a statement on this issue. More importantly, what kind of solution will be produced? We’ll wait and see…
