According to the Counterpoint Research report, Xiaomi, which is the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world with a 13 percent market share, is preparing to meet users with its new devices in the coming days. At this point, the company, which is expected to introduce the Xiaomi 12 and Pro models, made important statements about the reactionary screen features of the standard model of the series. Here are the details…
Why does the Xiaomi 12 use a 1080p panel?
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recently shared a poster on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, showing that the smartphone was approved by DisplayMate with an A+ rating. However, while the screen features of the device were evident, the resolution of 1080p caused serious reactions.
As it is known, Xiaomi 11, the predecessor of the phone, had a 2K screen resolution. Naturally, the Xiaomi 12 model was expected to appear in front of users with these resolutions. However, the 1080p panel detail in the screen features described otherwise caused confusion among users.
While it is a matter of great curiosity why Xiaomi made such a decision, a new statement was recently made by the company’s product manager, Lao Wei, that will enlighten everyone. Thus, the main purpose of using 1080p panel in Xiaomi 12 became clear.
According to the statement made by Wei, the main reason for the company to take such a decision is to provide better battery life. Stating that they had to make such a move because the smartphone is powered by a flagship processor such as Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, has a compact design and is powered by a relatively small capacity battery compared to others, the product manager decided to lower the resolution after reviewing many criteria. Said they got it.
Xiaomi 12, together with the Pro model of the series, is preparing to meet users at the event to be held on December 28. In fact, the long-awaited MIUI 13 version will most likely be introduced at the same event.
