Twitter has clarified the blue tick conditions by making an update on the platform’s support page. The platform, which explains who can get blue ticks and what requirements are needed for this, has also eliminated the confusion about verified accounts.
Who can get a blue tick on Twitter?
According to the information on Twitter’s website, in order for an account to be approved, it must first be original, well-known and active. Users who meet these conditions must meet some requirements. E.g; Requirements such as a website link, official authentication, and corporate email are needed in order for the account in question to be recognized as genuine. There is also a need for an article to be found, proof of that article on public platforms such as Google Trends or Wikipedia, in order for the account to be verified.
Of course, these are not enough to get blue ticks on Twitter. In order for the user to be verified, the basic account information must be entered and the account must be actively used. At this point, the accounts and interactions followed are of critical importance for users.
Who can’t get a blue tick on Twitter?
Twitter also clarified the issue of who cannot receive a blue tick. In the update made on the site, the officials who listed the accounts that will not receive a blue tick, made the following determinations for the accounts that will never be approved:
- Parody, news feed, comment accounts and unofficial fan accounts;
- Pets and fictional characters, unless they are directly related to an approved company, brand or organization or an Approved entertainment production as described above,
- Accounts that have committed serious violations of our platform manipulation and spam policy, such as selling, buying, and interacting with followers
- Approving accounts of individuals or groups found to have committed very serious human rights violations by an international court or an investigative delegation or commission collecting evidence, associated with coordinated harmful activity or hateful content, or authorized by an international organization, as described in the Twitter Advertising Policies. may not be deemed appropriate for Twitter, and even if their activity on Twitter does not violate the Twitter Rules, the situation will not change.
