Lewis Hamilton, who lost the championship to Max Verstappen in the final race of the Formula 1 2021 season, which took place three days ago, came up with a new news from the United Kingdom today. Hamilton, who started to carry the title of ‘Sir’ by taking place in the New Year Hall of Fame of the Queen of the United Kingdom in August 2020, has gained a new title today.
The 36-year-old successful driver, who managed to make his mark in the world of motorsport, was announced as the ‘Knight Bachelor’, the lowest rank in knighthood, by Prince Charles at Windsor Palace. Lewis Hamilton, now officially a knight, refused to answer questions from reporters after the ceremony. Accompanying Hamilton at the ceremony was his mother, Carmen Lockhart.
Hamilton becomes the 4th Formula 1 driver to be Knighted:
Lewis Hamilton becomes the fourth Formula 1 driver in UK history to be knighted. Prior to Hamilton, Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart were also knighted during their time in Formula 1. Hamilton, who has won 7 world championships so far, would have been the driver with the most championships in Formula 1 history if he had won this year.
Hamilton has spoken little so far after losing the title in the final lap. Speaking to Sky Sports, the pilot congratulated Max and his team, Red Bull, and said they’ve done a fantastic job this year. Thanking everyone at the factory and on the track, Hamilton described this season as the most difficult.
