Samsung and IBM are preparing to present their first products to the world of technology after their collaboration. Working on a new processor, the two technology giants have come a long way. The innovation, which is planned to change the way semiconductors are used, can also overcome an important problem in the smartphone world.
According to the first information, if the developments continue in this way, users will not have to worry about charging their smartphones. It has been observed that both companies are quite ambitious.
Samsung and IBM are ambitious in semiconductor
While it was learned that the development process continues, it was stated that companies could solve one of the important problems in the technology world. Especially the charging problems experienced by smartphone users can be completely eliminated with the help of new semiconductors. Trying to change the transistor array, Samsung and IBM also shared a video on YouTube on the subject.
In the video explaining what the system is, the array of new processors was also shown for the first time. The new Vertical Transfer Field Effect Transistor (VTFET) design aims to achieve the current FinFET technology used for some of the most advanced chips today. With this technology, which is a brand new design, the transistors will be stacked vertically. Instead of the juxtaposition found in most processor designs, vertical usage will keep the current flowing in the same way.
The effects of the new design, which is planned to minimize energy use, are also quite wide. Because Samsung and IBM state that smartphone batteries that last for weeks, less energy-consuming cryptocurrency mining or secure data encryption will only be possible with this technology. Introducing a 2 nm processor in the past, IBM was using the FinFET design. However, at this point, things may turn to VTFET technology.
The new processor design, which has yet to reach the end user, seems to change a lot in the technology world. In addition, the Intel front is likely to inflame the competition with a similar breakthrough. Let’s see what kind of innovations the semiconductor market will meet the users, we will wait and see.
