As you know, and unfortunately, hundreds of women are killed every year in our country for reasons related to their being women, and thousands, even millions of them; they are exposed to physical and psychological violence on similar grounds. Of course, condemning the criminals does not prevent them, as long as there is no work to improve the mentality. However, until this development is achieved, there are some practices that will ensure that women are protected from these attacks.
One of these is the Women’s Emergency Support Application, which was launched in 2018, which enables women to get help in emergencies. The number of users of KADES, which was previously deemed worthy of an international award within the scope of “fighting domestic violence with national hotlines and smartphone applications in the COVID-19 epidemic”, has always increased throughout its 3-year life. The app, which spread rapidly, has recently relied on almost 3 million users.

Although it is sad that the application is widely used in our country when looking at the big picture, it is a necessity to have an application that can quickly support women in similar situations when violence against women is so common. Because many women have been saved from violence and even from events that could result in death by using KADES. A woman, who had been kidnapped by a taxi driver in the past weeks, used this application in cold blood to inform the police and escaped.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, the number of users of KADES increased to 2 million 954 thousand 342. Since its launch, 260 thousand 848 notifications have been made through the application. The application, which was awarded by the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, needs features such as sending an emergency location without explanation. But still, maybe thousands of women got out of difficult situations thanks to KADES.
