When X was Twitter, the number of monthly active users of the platform reached 330 million in 2019, reaching the highest monthly user number of all time for the platform. Meta’s boss, Mark Zuckerberg, announced that Threads reached 275 million monthly active users. Still, Threads doesn’t feel that crowded compared to X or other platforms.

The main reason for this situation is, of course, the number of monthly active users of other platforms. For example, for Facebook, which is also owned by Meta, this number was 3.09 billion in late 2023. Snapchat states that the number of monthly active users is 850 million. The last figure from X was 330 million. Elon Musk, the owner of X, claims that this number is around 600 million.

Threads continues to grow rapidly

Even though it is not the first platform that comes to mind when it comes to social media, Threads continues to grow. The platform is gaining 1 million new users per day. The number of monthly active users announced in April was 150 million. Since then, the number of users of the platform has increased by 83 percent.

On the other hand, if you are actively using the Threads application, you may wonder, “If the number of users has increased so much, where are these people?” you can say. The posts of new members may not have been seen much because the new members are usually members who registered from Taiwan and Japan. There are also Instagram users who come to Threads but do not share anything or share very little.
