Pressing this button while on the home screen or lock screen can open the camera application, and the scroll sense can be used to take photos or switch between various shooting settings while inside the application. It is also said that DSLR-like features will be added to this button with the upcoming updates. This means that you will be able to focus the camera by half-pressing the button and make the adjustments you want before taking the full shot.
In addition, the Camera Control button and the camera application in general will work with Apple Intelligence to add events to your calendar when you take a photo of a concert poster or party invitation. It will also be able to perform image searches similar to Google Lens. However, these features were not initially offered.
