X platform account (user) blocking feature has now changed. It was previously revealed that this change would occur in mid-October. But how does the X account blocking feature work now? Will blocked profiles really be able to view your account from now on?
New account blocking feature for X has been activated
The feature of blocking accounts (users) on social media platforms has been in our lives for a long time. Basically, when a user is blocked, he loses the right to view his current profile and see his posts. The feature, which is available on every social media platform, has been partially removed from platform X.
Accordingly, the X user blocking feature will now only restrict interaction. If your account on the X platform is not a private or locked account, the profiles you have blocked will be able to see your posts. However, since you have blocked this account, it will not be able to interact with your posts.
Again, these accounts do not have the opportunity to send a DM to the user, tag them in a photo, send a follow request or add them to lists. X, when your account is protected, users you have blocked are not likely to see your posts. Currently, the posts of protected accounts can only be seen by their followers.
Information about the new account blocking feature in the X help center is listed as follows:
- If your posts are set to public, accounts you’ve blocked can see your posts. However, they cannot interact with your posts (like, reply, repost, etc.).
- Just as the accounts you have blocked cannot follow you, you cannot follow an account you have blocked.
- Blocking an account you are following will cause you to unfollow that account (and it will cause them to stop following you). If you decide to unblock the account you blocked, you will need to follow that account again.
- If your posts are set as protected, blocked accounts will not be able to see your posts because they will only be shown to your followers.
- Blocked accounts will not receive notification that they have been blocked. However, when the blocked account visits the profile of an account that blocked it, it sees that it has been blocked (in this respect, it is not similar to the mute function because muted accounts do not see that they are muted).
- You won’t receive notifications from accounts you’ve blocked or from accounts you don’t follow that mention you in chats initiated by accounts you’ve blocked. However, you will see notifications from accounts you follow that mention you in chats initiated by an account you have blocked. If you want to view all your mentions, you can search for your username to do so.
X, how did you find the change regarding the account blocking feature? Do you think it makes sense for an account you have blocked to see your posts and shares? We are waiting for your comments and opinions.
