Huawei achieved a significant success by being among the top five in the global tablet market in the third quarter of 2024. According to a new report published by IDC, the Chinese technology giant grew by 44.1% on an annual basis. Huawei shipped 3.3 million tablets during this period, reaching a market share of 8.2% worldwide. It is stated that this success is a result of the company’s efforts to expand its tablet range. Huawei has aimed to create diversity in the market with both budget-friendly models and upper segment devices for professionals in the last nine months.
The MatePad SE 11 model, in particular, attracted wide attention among consumers thanks to its affordable price. IDC’s Senior Research Analyst Anuroopa Natraj emphasized that Huawei’s entry into the top five is a remarkable development, and pointed out that the brand’s product strategy, which highlights the price advantage, attracted new customers. According to Natraj, this success shows that consumers are looking for alternatives in the tablet market.
Apple, which maintains its leadership in the tablet industry, shipped 12.6 million devices in the third quarter and recorded a growth of 1.4%. However, it was stated that sales of premium products such as iPad Pro did not meet expectations, but “Back to School” campaigns increased iPad Air sales and contributed to Apple’s 31.8% market share.
Samsung ranked second with 7.1 million devices. Especially the affordable Galaxy A9 model has achieved successful sales charts in many regions. Amazon and Lenovo were the other names in the top five, shipping 4.6 million and 3 million tablets, respectively. Overall, it was stated that the global tablet market grew by 20.4% in the third quarter and total shipments reached 39.6 million units.
It is predicted that as artificial intelligence features become more widespread in the tablet industry in the future, users will be able to invest in devices with such innovations.
