Qualcomm’s new generation flagship processor, Snapdragon 8 Elite, is expected to power many high-end Android phones such as the Galaxy S25, but according to new test results, the processor heats up significantly under load.

Sharing the top spot in mobile processors with Dimensity 9400 in performance tests, Snapdragon 8 Elite managed to double the processors of even the newest iPhones. Now, according to the results of a new test, if Qualcomm fails to balance the overheating problems of the new processor, the user experience may be negatively affected.

Realme GT7 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Elite gets seriously hot

Realme GT7 Pro, one of the first phones to come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, was received by a number of review sources. The phone overheated during intense use and stress tests and disabled some applications to preserve its performance. Although Realme GT7 Pro has an internal cooling system, it experienced this heating problem, which raised questions about the performance of Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Snapdragon 8 Elite stands out with two main cores running at 4.32 GHz and six performance cores running at 3.53 GHz. Qualcomm promised a 45% performance increase and a 40% faster GPU in this new flagship processor.

The performance of Snapdragon 8 Elite seems quite good, except for stress tests. While a slight warm-up was observed during the 30-minute gaming sessions, no problems were encountered in its overall performance. Additionally, Qualcomm’s claim of a 40% performance increase has not been fully verified in tests. Sources that conducted the reviews evaluate the performance increase as approximately 11% to 13%.
