Apple announced that it will switch to its own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip with the iPhone 17 in the second half of 2025. However, the company aims to reduce its dependence on its current supplier Broadcom.

Leak sources stated that Apple will use a specially designed separate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip in the iPhone 17. The chip will be produced in TSMC’s N7 production process and will support the Wi-Fi 7 standard.

Will Broadcom be bid farewell?

It is stated that Apple is also working on a special 5G modem that it plans to introduce with the iPhone SE 4 in the first half of 2025. The company is reportedly making plans to move its entire product line to its own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip within the next three years.

Apple’s start to use its own chip also brings to the fore its impact on Broadcom’s annual supply of 300 million modules. Experts point out that this strategic transition will provide significant advantages to Apple’s ecosystem integration. It is claimed that 5G and Wi-Fi chips, which have two different production processes, will be used simultaneously in the second half of 2025 and the iPhone 17 Slim will be one of the first devices to use this new combination.
