GeForce GTX 16 series is being discontinued
Nvidia is preparing to stop production of the GeForce GTX 16 series from the first quarter of 2024. According to information from Board Channels, the final orders for the GTX 16 series will be completed this month and shipments will stop from the first quarter of 2024. Accordingly, we can say that the green team will focus entirely on the RTX series.
From a technical standpoint, Nvidia will discontinue two GTX 16 models. These are GTX 1650 and 1630. It is stated that the production of other cards has already ended. However, we should point out that this development mainly covers desktop GPUs. We can see that the series continues in the mobile section. We should also point out that although the production of these cards has been stopped, driver and update support will continue.
For those who missed it, the GTX 16 series, based on the Nvidia Turing microarchitecture, was first introduced in 2019 and has been a budget-oriented alternative to the RTX series since then. However, the new development is not surprising. Because of the discounts made on the Ampere, or RTX 30 series, the GTX series was largely left behind. In fact, the most powerful model of the series, GTX 1660 Ti, is currently sold at prices close to RTX 2060 and 3060.
