Instagram, which wanted to prevent fraudsters, exposed the philanderers with its “Review” feature, social media was devastated

Social media application Instagram became a hot topic with the new precaution it quietly took against fraudsters. Users who send too many requests in a row on the platform have "Review" and "Delete" options in their follow-up requests.

While another type of fraud emerges on social media every day, platforms are making various moves to ensure the security of their users. One of these moves came from Instagram. The only thing that got worse was those who used the platform for womanizing.

“Review” button for accounts that send too many DMs and follow requests

One of the most common methods used by scammers on Instagram is to send follow requests to everyone they come across and try to extract information from the accounts of those who accept. Other attacks also involve sending requests to many followers. Instagram also wants to protect its users against such attacks. In the update made for this purpose, “Review” and “Delete” options have replaced the “Approve” and “Delete” options in the requests of users who send a large number of requests or send DMs.

Many users who shared on Twitter, formerly known as X, shared their follow lists where they frequently came across the phrase “Review” in their follow requests. Users who discovered the feature shared their reactions on social media. When we look at it in general, posts such as “Erkolar were closed” and “I lost sleep from laughing” stood out.

In the tests we conducted to verify the feature, we saw that there were “Approve” and “Delete” options in the requests we sent. So it’s not really necessary for every user to be “Reviewed”. While Instagram wants to prevent fraudsters, it seems to be making it difficult for womanizers.

On the other hand, some users stated that these warnings also appear in people who do not use Instagram very actively, and stated that the situation may be due to the fact that they do not have mutual friends etc.
