Although Samsung is one of the largest manufacturers in the smart watch market, it generally prefers to go with a fixed design. Although we often see unusual designs from Chinese manufacturers, Samsung’s new patent shows that the opposite will happen. The company’s new patent application shows a smartwatch design that we are not used to seeing.
Samsung is working on a smartwatch with a camera
Although we can see watches with quite different features in the smartwatch market, leading manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple have not changed much in recent years. Earlier this year, there was talk of a flat-sided Apple Watch coming, but this design change did not materialize. Samsung’s new patent allows you to open the screen and take pictures with the camera inside.
Although we do not see that it is the first time that there is a camera in smart watches, we can say that this design is well thought out. Even if you don’t use it, the constant presence of a camera on your watch can make those around you nervous. According to this design, what you need to do is to move the two parts of the screen away from each other. In this design, we’re obviously curious about what the screen will look like when you’re not using the camera. Because if the split design of the screen shows itself too much, it may not be a very stylish image.
This patent, which was submitted to the World Intellectual Property Office (WPO) in June, is just emerging. The most striking detail in this patent was Thor’s look at Stormbreaker. This is not a randomly inserted sample image. Apparently, Samsung thinks that people can watch movies from their watches, and that’s why the patent includes the movie Avengers: Infinity War.
While that sounds good, it’s not that appealing considering you’ll be watching 149 minutes of Avengers: Infinity War right from your wrist. Of course, it is revolutionary that smartwatches can play good quality video, but no one watches movies by holding their wrist for hours. That’s why watching movies from the watch is not a good idea at all. However, we would like to see a smartwatch with a screen of sufficient quality to make us watch a short video.
Although nothing is known about when this design will appear, we can say that we find the design pleasant. In particular, it is well thought out that the camera will be located inside the screen without causing privacy concerns to those around you. How did you find this design?
