The watchOS 10.2 update was released a month after the watchOS 10.1 update, which brought double-tap support, NameDrop and more for new Apple Watch models. WatchOS 10.2 brings several new features and closes important security vulnerabilities.

The watchOS 10.2 update allows Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 users to access and save data in the Health app with Siri. Users can now ask “How many steps did I take?”, “How did I sleep last night?” They can quickly access their health data by asking questions such as to Siri, and they can also add new information with Siri. This feature is limited to Apple’s newest Apple Watch models.

watchOS 10.2 also reintroduces the swipe option to change the watch face, a feature that was removed in watchOS 10. It is possible to quickly switch between added watch faces by swiping from the left or right side of the screen. Apple offers this feature optionally. Users need to go to Clock from settings and turn on “Slide to change watch face”.

What’s new with watchOS 10.2

  • Access and save Health data with Siri (Available on Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2)
  • Automatically showing the Now Playing screen when next to a HomePod (2nd generation) or HomePod mini
  • Adding swipe to change watch faces to settings
  • Adding the option to confirm termination of the workout from the settings
  • Option to prioritize music or instructor volume in most Fitness+ workouts
  • Addresses an issue where watch faces added to the Watch app on iPhone do not appear on Apple Watch.
