Threads could have been called Epigram!
Meta, one of the important names in the technology industry, has launched Threads, a platform that rivals X, formerly known as Twitter. New details have emerged about the platform, which has experienced ups and downs since it was in use. Instagram president Adam Mosseri announced the alternative names considered for Threads.
In his statement, Mosseri stated that the team’s second choice for the name of the application was Epigram. He also stated that the text-based social media platform was initially called Textagram. Despite this, he added that they removed this name from the options at the last moments.
Many comments came after Adam Mosseri’s statements. Many users said that the name Threads is the best among all other names. In addition, some users stated that words ending in “gram” added privacy to the application.
Naming a platform or service can be a difficult decision. In this case, developers are trying to reduce the options. For example, Google’s co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, first decided on the name Backrub for their search engine. Instagram, on the other hand, started as an application called Burbn.
Besides all this, although Threads and X have some common aspects, Meta is trying to add differences to the platform. One of these differences is that hashtags are not added on the Threads platform. Instead, only one tag is added per post. On the other hand, there is no direct messaging support.
So, what do you think about Threads name options? What do you think the name of the platform should be? Don’t forget to share your opinions with us in the comments section!
