According to the statements made, WhatsApp’s parent company Meta will integrate the company’s digital wallet Novi into WhatsApp. According to the statements made by WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart and Novi CEO Stephane Kasriel on Twitter, it will now be possible to transfer Pax Dollars (USDP), a cryptocurrency pegged to the US dollar, via the popular messaging platform with the help of Novi.
In the statements made by Novi, regarding this new feature, “A new way to send and receive free cryptocurrencies. Users will be able to transfer money without leaving their WhatsApp chats. In addition, it was among the statements that the crypto money transfer feature brought to the platform is currently only available to a limited number of users in the USA.
Cryptocurrency transfer can be done for free
According to the statements, it is very easy to transfer crypto money for free via WhatsApp. According to Novi, people who can use the feature must first open any chat in order to transfer. After that, users will have to click on the ‘paper clip’ on Android devices, the ‘plus (+)’ icon on iOS devices and click on the payment option that appears on the screen. Afterwards, transfers can be made by logging into Novi account.
This isn’t Meta’s (formerly Facebook) first cryptocurrency move towards WhatsApp. In a report shared by Bloomberg in 2018, it was stated that the company plans to integrate crypto money into WhatsApp. In the news, it was stated that the company plans to develop a ‘stablecoin’ that can be used on WhatsApp.
