Huawei Qingyun L540 laptop with Kirin 9006C chip was recently launched in China. Qingyun L540 laptops are the successors of the L410 series featuring Kirin 990 SOC, while the new laptop uses the latest 5nm Kirin 9006C SOC designed by HiSilicon and adopts a new Arm-based architecture with 8 cores.

Huawei Qingyun series computers are sold only to businesses and government institutions in China. It is known that the company is experimenting more with these devices than with consumer Mate-branded computers.

Huawei showcased 5nm Kirin 9006C

The company launched Qingyun L410 as its first ARM-supported laptop in 2021. This laptop had Kirin 990 SoC inside. At the end of that year, Huawei introduced another ARM laptop called Qingyun L420 powered by Kirin 9006C chip. Now, two years later, Huawei has introduced its third ARM laptop called Qingyun L540. This new laptop is powered by the same HiSilicon Kirin 9006C chip as the second model.

Huawei’s third ARM laptop comes in a single 14-inch variant, like its predecessors. It also maintains a metal body with a thickness of 15.9 mm and a weight of 1.45 kg. The laptop, which has an IPS LCD panel, offers a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels and covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut. As mentioned above, the device houses the Kirin 9006C chipset. The CPU configuration includes 4 Cortex A77 cores and 4 Cortex A55 cores. The Cortex A77 core module has a single core operating at frequencies up to 3.13 GHz, while the rest of the cores operate at 2.54 GHz. Not much is known other than that this silicon is built on the 5nm process process.

As for the software, Huawei ships the computer with two different operating systems: KOS (Kirin Operating System) and UOS (Unity Operating System). The laptop comes with 1 x USB Type-C, 2 x USB Type-A, an HDMI, 3.5mm headphone jack and a mini RJ45 port while complying with MIL-STD-810G for durability. Finally, the laptop draws power from a 56Wh battery and supports 65W charging.
